School of Theology is a week-long intensive where we share communion in community. A place and a time to question, discuss, learn, and grow - all in an open and loving environment surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Central Oregon. Our goal is that these spaces will combine to provide the perfect opportunity for a life changing experience.

In addition to the 4-5 hours of daily "class time", we also share accommodations and meals together providing unparalleled access to the presenters, which creates a unique space to grow in the soil of healthy relationships.

A partial list of presenters for this session include: Fr John Behr, Julie Canlis, Chris Green, Cherith Nordling, Brad Jersak, and Paul Young.

Space is limited to about 60 spots and is only reserved on a “first registered - first in” basis when we receive your $200 non-refundable deposit.


COST

This session of SOT is sold out! However, we do have a waiting list. Simply email us with your request to be on that list and the type of accommodations that you would prefer and we will notify you should there be a cancellation.

We have rented 10 beautiful homes in Sunriver to accommodate all participants. All of these homes have both private and shared bedroom and bathroom options. Space is reserved on a first come - first in basis.

Private Accommodations with private bath for a Single: $2500/person SOLD OUT!!!
This option provides you with your own bedroom and a private bathroom. Includes the seminar, six nights in beautiful lodging with private room, and all home cooked meals.

Private Accommodations with shared bathroom for a Single: $1900/person SOLD OUT!!!
This option provides you with your own bedroom, but you will still need to share a bathroom with at least one other person. Includes the seminar, six nights in beautiful lodging with private room, and all home cooked meals.

Sunriver Resort, Oregon

Sunriver is a resort community set at the foot of the Cascade mountain range that offers multiple recreational opportunities. World-class hiking, fishing, biking, tennis, golf, swimming are all available on property and in the surrounding area.


Registration

There is a $200/person non refundable deposit that must accompany your registration in order to secure your spot.

Once you register you will receive confirmation of your payment and reserved spot. You will also receive additional information, including a transportation form, to help you begin to organize your plans to attend.

However, you can contact us anytime if you have a question or need some additional info.


Presenters

The presenters will be with us all week, sharing meals, and interacting in and out of the classroom setting.

Dr. Brad Jersak

Brad is an author and teacher based in Abbotsford, Canada. He is editor-in-chief of “Christianity Without the Religion” magazine and teaches at Westminster Theological Centre. He is also the author of over a dozen books, including “Can You Hear Me? Tuning in to the God Who Speaks” and “A More Christlike God: A More Beautiful Gospel.”

Fr John Behr
Fr. John Behr is the Regius Professor of Humanity at the University of Aberdeen, previously having been at St Vladimir’s Seminary, New York, where he also served as Dean. His publications include an edition and translation of Origen’s On First Principles and a study of the Gospel of John.

Julie Canlis

Julie is married to Matt, stays at home with their four children, and teaches Sunday School for 11-13 year olds. She likes her food slow, and her church slower. Along with Matt, she has been instrumental in the writing of the small group curriculum for Godspeed to help churches translate the Scottish documentary onto their own soil. In addition to the above, Julie teaches at Whitworth University, published her PhD as Calvin’s Ladder: A Spiritual Theology of Ascent and Ascension (Templeton Prize; Christianity Today Award of Merit), and most recently, A Theology of the Ordinary.

Chris E.W. Green

Chris is Professor of Public Theology at Southeastern University (Lakeland, FL), Director of St Anthony Institute for Theology and Philosophy, and Teaching Pastor at Sanctuary Church (Tulsa, OK). He and his wife Julie live in Tulsa with their kids, Zoë, Clive, and Emery. Chris has written extensively, his most recent book being the revised edition of Sanctifying Interpretation: Vocation, Holiness, Scripture. 

John MacMurray

John is the founder and director of the Northwest School of Theology and the Open Table Conferences. Formerly an adjunct professor in Bible Literature, he now speaks internationally, and writes. His books include “A Spiritual Evolution” and “Father Fiction” (co-written with Donald Miller). He is also a landscape nature photographer, published in National Geographic, Sierra Club, and Audubon.

Cherith Nordling
Cherith is a theologian, writer, and mentor in Christian formation with a Ph. D. from the University of St. Andrews. Most recently she served as Associate Professor of Theology at Northern Seminary in Lisle, Illinois. She also taught for five years at Calvin College and Seminary while serving as Co-Director of Christian Formation with her husband, Robert. She has taught as adjunct professor at numerous other institutions and continues as a seasonal lecturer for Regent College, Vancouver, BC and for the YWAM Masters Program in Christian Formation.

Wm. Paul Young
Paul is the author of “The Shack”, “Eve”, “Cross Roads”, and “The Shack Reflections. He was born a Canadian and raised among a stone-age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of what was Netherlands New Guinea (now West Papua). He suffered great loss as a child and young adult, and now enjoys the “wastefulness of grace” with his family in the Pacific Northwest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How large is the group at SOT?

Most years we limit the size of SOT to around 20-25 people. For this special SOT we have reserved space for around 60 attendees.


Will the sessions be recorded?

Yes, and this is included in your fee but it will be audio only. We’re working on the possibility of video as well.


Is there financial assistance or scholarships available?

Yes, that may be possible. If you would like to participate and need financial assistance please email us.


When is the balance of payment due?

April 12, 2024. 


What protocols will you be following due to the current COVID situation?

As we all know, life has changed with COVID. Our policy is to follow any mandates the federal/state/local governments require at the time of our event. We will continue to monitor the virus up to our event and notify you should any protocols change.


Will the recordings be available to the public for purchase?

Historically, because of the personal and sometimes sensitive nature of the class conversations, we have not made the recordings available to the public. However, we may be able to edit out these parts of the sessions and if we are successful, we will make the recordings available.


What is the Refund Policy?

Your deposit is non-refundable and as a general rule, no refunds will be issued once you have paid your balance due. However, contact us if you need to request a refund. We take requests on an individual basis.


Can I register one time for both me and my spouse?

No. Each person must register and pay individually.
